How to use this converter

Select the conversion direction — mesh to microns or microns to mesh — enter your value, and click Convert. The tool finds the closest standard ASTM mesh size and returns the equivalent particle size along with typical applications for that grade.

What is mesh size?

Mesh size refers to the number of openings per linear inch in a sieve screen. A higher mesh number means a finer powder with smaller particles. For example, 400 mesh calcium carbonate has particles passing through a screen with 400 openings per inch, corresponding to approximately 38 microns.

Why mesh size matters for industrial minerals

In paint, rubber, PVC, and paper applications, the mesh size of calcium carbonate or other mineral fillers directly affects gloss, surface finish, dispersion, and processing behaviour. Selecting the wrong grade can reduce gloss in coatings, cause surface defects in rubber, or create processing problems in PVC compounds.

SK Stardust Industries supplies GCC from 100 to 1250 mesh from our ISO 9001:2015 certified plant in Parbatsar, Rajasthan. Contact us to request a sample or discuss your grade requirements.
